Διονυσία Κοντογιάννη, Parental involvement of foreigners from the point of kindergarten teachers, Έρευνα στην Εκπαίδευση, 2|2014,

In this research we approach the parental involvement of immigrants, exploring the attitudes of kindergarten teachers on: a) the practices they themselves apply for the promotion of parental involvement, b) the issues that they discuss with foreign parents, and c) the willingness of parents to cooperate. From the research carried out with kindergarten teachers from Crete, using a closed questionnaire, the results show that preschool teachers motivate foreign parents to participate in school activities, but not in class activities, and mainly discuss issues related to the educational achievement οf their children with them. Kindergarten teachers also believe that foreign parents are cooperative and that (through their picture or perception of them) these parents are undergoing adaptation to Greek society.
