There is a scarcity of documents in the Greek Language concerning thehistory of Corfu during the late Middle Ages, when the island was under theAngevin and Venetian domination. Three notarial documents of this kind, from the private collection of Mr J. D. Collas, are published here. The firstone (1398) deals with the division of the property of a dead "paroikos", whilethe other two (1420 and 1458) were written to legalise the selling of somevineyards to the monastery of St. Georgios Ipsilos. On the occasion of the publication of these documents the author dealswith the subject of the function of the notaries, Greek and Italian, in Corfuduring the late Middle Ages. A commentary of the documents and a list of thenotaries of Corfu (1274-1473) completes the study.
