EKT ePublishing was developed by the National Documentation Centre (EKT) with an aim to provide open access to scholarly eJournals, eBooks and eProceedings, and deploy a range of integrated publishing services for the Greek academic community.
ePublishing was developed in the context of EKT’s strategy for the digital transition of scientific publications, the promotion of open scholarly communication and content aggregation by EKT’s national infrastructures. ePublishing EKT is provided to non-profit institutional publishers and serves as a medium for the publication of electronic journals, monographs and conference proceedings. Published content and relevant metadata are harvested and further disseminated via a range of complementary infrastructures and aggregators -such as the Greek Reference Index for the Social Sciences and Humanities (grissh.ekt.gr)- that support integrated search and smart content interlinking processes. Thus, ePublishing EKT contributes in the development of a national, integrated Digital Public Space that fosters reuse of scientific and cultural data
Publications are expected to meet the applied selection criteria.
Digital journals presented at EKT ePublishing are a result of the institution's successful co-operation with publishers of peer-reviewed journals and institutions/organizations with international prestige in the field of research and culture. Organizations and research institutions can benefit from EKT's publishing services and enhance their publishing capabilities and management procedures by selecting as many or as few services needed.
EKT’s ePublishing services include, most significantly, the organization, documentation and organized dissemination of metadata and content of scholarly journals, training and consulting services on issues such as the standardization of editorial processes according to internationally accepted standards, intellectual property, the inclusion of content and metadata in international content indexers and harvesters via interoperable systems. E-publishing services are addressed to public institutions, and publishers of accredited scholarly journals as well as to the wider public. At EKT ePublishing:
