Κώστας Χρυσαφίδης, The role of practical exercises in developing appropriate conditions for the "New School", Έρευνα στην Εκπαίδευση, 1|2014,

The role of Internship Programmes in forming appropriate conditions for the 'New School'. In these times of frequent reversals, we find new conditions working to restructure the social fabric, exerting new demands and shifting priorities for all. Naturally, these shifting conditions have had an impact on the role, and experience, of the school system. The role of the school system requires analysis and re-evaluation. The 'New School' concept places a higher emphasis on creativity and cultivation of companionship among students. This emphasis is reflected not only in the culture of the institution, but also in the classroom, with active contribution and development of 'team spirit' key to the learning process. This change exerted on the students must also be matched with a raising of educational standards on behalf of the faculty, with the role of 'teacher' being raised to that of an 'educational researcher'. Opinions posited in relation to the learning process will refer to the relationship between theory and practice, and answers will be based on various epistemological facts. Internship Programmes in Education faculties, taking into account the requirements of the 'New School' system, can be designed and executed in such a way as to support new teachers in attaining these higher standards of educational demands.
