The journal focuses in the reception of the European 18th century ideas in the Greek space and generally in South-East Europe. Further, it focuses in the origins and the survivals of the Neohellenic Enlightenment, and thus also publishes studies concerned with the period before and after the 18th century. The journal publishes articles in Greek, English, French, Italian and German. Twenty seven volumes have been published so far; six of them have been dedicated to scholars engaged in the Neohellenic Enlightenment studies. Moreover, a general Index of the first twenty volumes of THE GLEANER was published in 2001. The contents of the journal are structured in three parts: Articles, Mélanges, and a third part, comprising Chronicles concerning the Greek Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies as well as News about publication of relevant books, announcements of either local or international congresses and scientific meetings.
